“I first visited India in 2000, arriving on my 21st birthday. The experience of being “home” was visceral and unexpected. I felt in love with the Earth, and loved by it, embraced by it like I had never felt anywhere else.
I spent about two months in Auroville then, before traveling around South India, and I always knew that I would be back. India is one of the few places in the world where the ancient indigenous wisdom is thoroughly infused into the social and cultural fabric of day to day life. As a result, the Earth breathes more freely. The Divine Mother has been honored here for millennia, and Her being can be felt resonating in the air, the water, the plants and soil. It is an amazing gift to share my love of India with you, and to organize collective immersions in Her beauty and richness.”

India’s rich spiritual culture and ancient wisdom gifts all yoga practitioners on a daily basis. It is our hope that by bringing people to the Mother Land, seekers of all kinds can touch this depth in a more complete and profound way. From the gratitude we at Yoga Center Amherst have for all we have been given, we seek to give back and support various aspects of Indian culture and society. Yoga Center Amherst makes monthly financial contributions to Mohanam. Visit their site to learn more or to donate.
