Welcome to YCA!

Read on for helpful information for new students.

Choosing a Class:

View our class descriptions and our schedule. If you are brand new to yoga practice, we recommend choosing from among our Gentle, Gentle/Moderate, and Restorative classes to start. Here’s a list of when they’re offered (check the schedule for instructors):

Mondays: 9-10am Gentle Yogilates | 5-6pm Gentle/Moderate Embodyoga®
Tuesdays: 4-5:15pm Gentle/Moderate Embodyoga® | 7:15-8:30pm Restorative Yoga
Wednesdays: 9-10:30am Gentle/Moderate Embodyoga®
Thursdays: 4-5pm Restorative Yoga
Fridays: 9-10:30am Gentle Embodyoga®

What to wear/bring:

We suggest you wear comfortable, stretchy or loose-fitting clothing that won’t dig or pinch and will allow you to move freely. Bring a yoga mat if you have one; if not, we offer mats for your use ($1 suggested donation), as well as blankets, bolsters, meditation cushions, cork and foam blocks, straps, sandbags, and more (your instructor will tell you which of these you’ll need for class and what to do with them). If you borrow a mat, please spray and wipe it down after class with the supplies provided.

We have water and cups available in the reception area. You are welcome to bring a water bottle into class with you. Drinking large amounts of water during practice is not recommended, but if you are thirsty, honor your body by taking sips as needed.

Parking:

2-hour parking is available in the lot on the east side of the Yoga Center Amherst building. If you continue driving through that lot, you will come to a larger lot with 4-hour parking. Meters in both lots accept coins, or you can pay for parking with a debit or credit card or PayPal account using the ParkMobile App downloaded to your smart phone. Enter your payment information, enter your license plate number and use Zone #5944.

Arriving:

When you come upstairs to YCA (17 Kellogg Ave, 2nd Floor), you will see the door to the reception area, and 2 all-gender bathrooms in the hall to the right. Come into the reception area and introduce yourself as a new student at the front desk. You will create a profile in our system, sign our studio waiver, and decide how you would like to pay for class. (You can also visit yogacenteramherst.com/account ahead of time and register for classes or purchase passes online). We suggest you sign up for our Intro Offer – $35 for your first 20 days of unlimited classes! Click here for information on our prices and scholarship programs.

We lock the door to the reception area 5 minutes after class begins. If you are late, you may enter through the studio door to the right, just past the bathrooms. Please remember to check in with the reception person after class!

If you have any questions or concerns, talk to your instructor or the reception person, or contact Studio Manager Chad Chaffee: chad@yogacenteramherst.com
