Yoga is for everyone, and Yoga Center Amherst welcomes all who wish to practice, regardless of financial means.

Work Trades and Scholarships: Studio Membership

In 2017, we awarded nearly $5000 in scholarships toward studio memberships and teacher trainings. Most of these scholarships were combined with partial payment or Work Trade arrangements. Once you submit an application, we will first try to find a Work Trade arrangement that will be mutually beneficial. In our experience, Work Trade participants gain a lot more than just free classes!

“It has been a joy and a delight to honor the sacred space of community practice, and personally welcome everyone who comes to the center. It has grown into a meditative and centering practice for me.” – Lexi Allaway, studio reception person & 2017 200-hour teacher training graduate

If a Work Trade arrangement is not possible, we will consider a partial scholarship. Scholarships are prioritized for people with limited financial means who would otherwise not be able to afford yoga classes. Not every scholarship application is approved, but our policy is to try to find an arrangement that will work for every applicant, and to turn no one away for lack of ability to pay. It is our intention in 2018 to expand awareness of the availability of financial assistance for anyone who needs it to make practice at YCA possible.

New: Yoga Teacher Training Scholarships

This year, we are excited to offer two full scholarships to both our 200-Hour Embodyoga® Teacher Training and our 90-Hour Prenatal Yoga and Wellness Training. Our Embodyoga® programs are well-rounded, in-depth studies of yoga with an emphasis on personal embodiment as the basis for becoming a yoga teacher. We may ask serious applicants to interview with us as part of our decision-making process.

Please note that the Yoga for All and Yoga Roots scholarships described below cover the full cost of the training only. There are some basic costs associated with the trainings that are not included in the scholarship. These are required reading materials (available for purchase in the yoga center store with a 15% discount for YTT students), and the cost of class passes. In the event of financial hardship, assistance may be available on a case-by-case basis.
