About the Workshop

  • Explore the bones and ligaments of the foot.
  • Experience how they support the three-dimensional path of weight bearing through the arches of the feet.
  • Discover how the feet inform the spirals of the legs and pelvis.
  • Explore the embryological development of the talus (a key bone) that sets up the spiraling pathways of our bones and joints.
  • Learn ways to strengthen and mobilize the feet.

Amy Matthews, CMA, IDME, RYT, RSMT/E is a Certified Laban Movement Analyst, a Body-Mind Centering® Practitioner, an Infant Developmental Movement Educator, and a yoga therapist and registered yoga teacher. Amy co-teaches the BMC & Yoga programs in NYC and Berkeley, CA for the School for Body-Mind Centering®, has been on the faculty of the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies since 2000. She leads the Embodied Asana Advanced Teacher Training at the Breathing Project in NYC. Amy collaborated with Leslie Kaminoff on the book Yoga Anatomy, published by Human Kinetics.
